Languages of Creative Practice

Welcome to the Thinking Room’s pages exploring the language of creative practice.

Language is the bedrock of all our practice and the rhetoric we use or operate under may define us and how we work. Do we have ownership of the language we use to describe our practice? How can we speak about new ways of working with existing terminology? Do we all use and understand key terms like creativity, quality and engagement, in the same way and how do we account for gaps in use and understanding? How can discussions around language be used to help us develop our practices, improve our methods and take ownership of meaning?

Here you will be able to investigate some of the key terms in the rhetoric that defines practice and creative working methods across both the arts and education sectors.
